Janke, or Jannie, is your host & proprietor. She will make your stay a wonderful one!
Benno Wissing (1923-2008) is considered one of the best graphic designers of his time. His work is everywhere: from Wang Corporation, US Navy, Austin Company, the signage system at Schiphol, Amsterdam International Airport, and the hub terminal American Airlines in Raleigh Durham, The Holland Festival, PAM, Makro, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. He was the founding partner of Total Design in 1963 in The Netherlands. After leaving Total Design in 1980 he accepted a professorial position at Rhode Island School of Design.
Benno and Jannie fell in love with this home here in Bristol which is now known as The Wissing House. Although much of Benno's work is now hanging in museums in The Netherlands, you may still see some of his works hanging throughout The Wissing House. It is no wonder why so many writers and other artists make The Wissing House their home.
